Can I register a stressed domain?

Since 2012 it has been possible to insert within the domain name to be registered not only the accented characters (à, è, ì, etc.) but also all those not contained in the standard ASCII encodings. This opportunity offers greater flexibility to all those who wish to launch a website, allowing them to register names that were impossible to take into consideration in the past.

This condition is made possible by the Punycode coding system, which allows - through a specific algorithm - to easily manage domains under the IDN standard (Internationalizing Domain Names in Applications), thus overcoming the linguistic barriers imposed by the old technology.

IDN domains are domain names that may contain unconventional characters (such as ä, ö, ü, ß, etc.) and which, at the time of domain registration, will be entered in the cart encoded in a different form from the original one, although perfectly equivalent. For example, registering a domain like accentàto.it will find it in the cart xn — accentto-4ya.
